DescriptionFor pre-season week, there will be no hitting. Days 1 & 2: Helmet Days 3 & 4: Helmet and shoulder pads
Ground rules for Practices 1. Pre-Season practice starts on time so arriving a few minutes early is helpful. 5:45pm arrival with 6:00 pm whistle to start. 2. It is critical your child attend practice. If they can not make practice, please contact headcoach. Please do not miss the first few weeks of practice due to vacation. If they must miss week 1, it is very important your child attend camps so they can come into our week 2 ready to blend in with their team. If they miss week 1 and do not go to camp, they will not be allowed to participate in the hitting drills week 2 and essentially are 2 weeks behind. This should not happen. 3. All practices are held at Spry 119 South Ave in Webster. Please park in designated areas. If someone asks you to move, please do so willingly. There is no parking on west side of Sherwood Avenue. Please park @ Spry parking lot and walk over. 4. During the regular season when school is in session, we move to Tuesday and Thursday practice schedule during the school week and Saturday morning. For a Saturday game, we will also practice on Wednesday. Occasionally we will move practice to an off night due to school functions. Your headcoach will let you know. Please be adaptable. 5. Games are usually Sunday. We will have an occasional Saturday game. Players need to arrive at least 60 minutes early for weigh in, warm-ups and game prep. Your headcoach will inform you. 6. All games are “home” at Boulter Field, located behind the ice rink near Thomas High School. Boulter Field 865 Publishers Parkway Webster NY, 14580. 7. Volunteers – We need your support. Please help. a) Coaches (like 5-6 per team), medics 2 per team. b) Team Manager (1) – snack list, game day communication, paperwork, volunteer commitment. Please see headcoach to help. c) Each team is responsible for providing a number parent volunteers. We need your help with concession, announcing booth, chain gang, etc. Signups happen at equipment distribution. 8. Players are responsible for providing their own water, girdle, cup, and cleats. Plastic molded cleats are required. No screw in cleats or metal cleats allowed please. Grass-cleats need to be broken in before the first practice. A few hours of running around the yard or park will suffice. However, do not allow any running around on pavement as this will prematurely wear down. 9. Do not modify any equipment provided by the league. If you are having issues, speak to your headcoach. 10. A mouthpiece is provided. Please keep it clean and in good condition. If you child chews on the mouthpiece, it is very important to replace when worn. 11. Drink plenty of fluids prior to and during practice and games. While water or sports drinks are the best choice, it is best to stay away from caffeinated beverages as they will actually make the body lose water rapidly (diuretic). 12. Please ensure that meals are consumed at least 2 hours prior to practice or games. 13. Field coaches are the only personnel allowed on the field during practices and games. 14. Parents should reinforce the lessons conveyed during practice and games. Namely, basic skills, team unity, and individual preparation. 15. If your child has any food or medical allergies or any other medical condition please inform the team staff. 16. Practice cancellations – we try our best to let everyone know. If there is lightning – practice is cancelled. Go to www.wjw-wjt.org for up to date info. 17. For all practices and games ensure that your player is dressed for the weather. We will practice in the heat, cold, rain…football is an all weather sport! 18. Football is a contact sport. In the event a child gets injured, the medics are in charge. The medics will clear your children to return to practice or game - the parent does not decide. In the event your child is seriously injured, the medic will need a doctor’s note allowing the child to return.
